Dr. Tauseef R. Butt (curriculum vitae) is the Director of Research and Development at VLI Research. Tauseef earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow, Scotland in Molecular Biology. Tauseef was a staff fellow at the National Institute of Health (NIH) before joining SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in 1982. As Assistant Director of Research and Development, he developed several technologies including ubiquitin gene fusion system. His lab has continued to develop variety of gene fusion systems that are useful in efficient expression of different families of proteins.

From 1988 - 1999 he was an active faculty member and adjunct professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Philadelphia, PA. Currently, Tauseef is an adjunct professor of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.

With over 70 papers published, 5 patents and several years of experience in gene expression, ubiquitin pathways and reconstruction of human transcription function in yeast, Tauseef is a proven leader in this arena.

Ms. Danielle Hilosky is the Operations Manager for VLI Research. Danielle has an extensive background in biotech companies. She has experience in contract negotiation, organizational management and cost reduction. Danielle earned her BS in Biological Sciences from Ursinus College.

Ms Varsha Luthra is Business Development Director. Ms. Luthra received her B.A. in English and Russian from Exeter University England. She has held Director of Marketing positions in biotechnology companies. She has also been the Director of HR and Business Development at DCA Consulting, in Philadelphia, PA. DCA is a database company, which had grown from 10 people to a staff of 40 during the tenure of Varsha. Varsha is responsible for HR and business development functions.
